I setup my guerrilla recording rig at ABGB on Sat 2/22 to capture the “Churchwood” show. This band is awesome – redefining roots, rock and progressive music at the same time. Thanks again to Paul Minor for helping make it happen, here’s the first rough mix “Aranzazu”:
Sounds great, John! Thank you for playing.
Nice live cut. Can I ask a geek question, related to the guerrilla microphone set-up?
Thanks for the comment Tom. My recording rig is a mic splitter that goes to mic preamps that are inputs to an Alesis HD24 hard disk recorder. That way I get individual tracks of everything that goes to the house PA. In addition I set up overhead mics for the drums and had one room mic to pick up a bit of the ambient sound in the venue. I had a total of 16 inputs including the horn mics. It’s sort of a “send and pray” setup, I’m not checking anything other than basic levels at the venue sound check. Afterwards I transfer the tracks to my computer and see how things turned out.
